They call me Thor.

Hoover and I got new stalls a while back. I liked our first stalls – very large and cozy. But these new stalls are unbelievable. First of all, they are at the end of the barn. That means it will be easier to break out of here if things go badly. They are also quieter than our old stalls. Most of the activity is in the center of the barn – the cross ties, feed room, shower area and entrance to the indoor arena are all in the middle of the barn. All the human activity in the center of the barn was frankly annoying – always some noise to startle me. Now I’ve got some peace!

Even better, our new stalls have runs! Even in the bad weather I can walk outside, in the evenings I can watch dusk come over our fields, and in the morning Hoover only has to walk out the back door to his stall to be outside! At night the humans close the back doors so we are cozy, and in the morning they open the far end of the runs so I can go to the fields and graze.

But the absolute best thing about these new stalls is Hoover’s turnout area. I can still be next to him outside of my run, or watch him from the near field, so I know he is safe. Humans filled it with fresh soft footing so he can walk around out there more easily. They actually bring him hay outside when he is resting there! And it is huge!!!! Hoover has his own tree – seriously, his own tree – in his turnout. It shades him from the sun if he likes, and when he stands he eats it! Hoover is a Thoroughbred and tall enough to reach the new leaves! What a life for Hoover. All that’s missing for him is to have his feet be better and come out with me everyday in the pasture. I hope this lasts. If not, at least we are at the end of the barn now near the wide big door…

I am Thor and I am an Equamore horse.
