WE’RE MAKING A LIST
Subcribers to this newsletter are invited to a special holiday celebration in honor of YOU and all we’ve accomplished since the last Winter NeighSaver was published in December of 2011. Mark your calendar for December 9th from 2-5 pm and join us in the Equamore barn and upstairs lounge. We’re “making a list and checking it twice” to make sure we give credit to everyone who contributed to the accomplishments listed below.
Make December 9th the day you take time to celebrate what your generosity has made possible for the 45 happy horses who live safely and without fear at the Equamore Sanctuary.
- We held a series of Open Barn Events which included two Grand Openings, horse shows, and barn tours conducted by Ruth Kennedy and Colleen Dumont.
- We completely revised our web site at www.equamore.org with the help of the techno-wizards at DotComJungle.
- We increased the number of Equamore Friends by over 13% in one year. Linda Davis keeps the records, which show we’re 51% of the way to 1,000 Friends.
- We finalized a national direct mail campaign with pro bono help from Fund Raising Strategies, Inc.
- We helped 102 families keep 207 horses at home through the Oregon Hay Bank, an Equamore program directed by volunteer Julie Fritz.
- We upgraded our financial software and continue to keep excellent records with the advice of volunteer Linda Cannon.
- We added several videos to our YouTube site edited by volunteer Niki Potter. They can be found at http://www.youtube.com/user/EquamoreFoundation.
- We conducted the first Equamore Academy classes: Horse Massage with Jim Shackleford and Hoof Care for Horse Owners with Nancy Ash of the Oregon School of Natural Hoof Care.
- Over two hundred Equamore supporters crowded into The Grotto Pizzeria for “The Day of the Horse” event organized by owner Anna Clay.
- We partnered with the Ashland Chamber of Commerce to create a new Equamore presence on their web site at www.ashlandchamber.com
- GuideStar rates Equamore with their coveted “GuideStar Seal” in recognition of our commitment to transparency. The Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries lists us as a Verified Sanctuary providing humane and responsible care of our horses, as confirmed by an onsite visit by an agent of that organization.
- We continue to care for 45 horses and ponies at the Equamore Sanctuary.
- We f
ed each rescued horse twice a day and cleaned their stalls each morning through the hard work of JesusPalomino, Ignacio Palomino, and Aaron Ordaz, who were available to our horses 7 days a week, every week, 12 months per year. - The care of 17 Equamore horses is fully or partially covered by Equamore Sponsors, some of whom take time out of their busy schedules to visit their special horses.
- We’ve increased the number of visitors to the barn and to our Facebook and Twitter pages with the help of Nancy Nickolson, who acts as our press agent.
