Leggs, Apollo, Mister (with white sock)

December 14, 2012

Background:  Mister is an eleven year old Mustang successfully rescued in the Fall of 2011.  Mister is owned by Linda Cannon and is privately boarded at the Equamore Sanctuary.  Mister and his owner consider Equamore their home and all the horses living there part of the family.  They enjoy the gorgeous facilities and wonderful care.

On the afternoon of December 11th, Mister returned home to the Equamore Sanctuary after a four month absence where he participated in a professional training program.  When the trailer pulled up with Mister inside there was excitement in the air.  As he exited the trailer he looked around, stared toward the fields and walked cautiously into the barn to his stall.  Like a child at a party with so many wonderful things to do and see all at one time he looked around the stall.  There was hay in the feeder, fresh straw for his bed, the familiar warmth of home, and a view of the field.

Mister grabbed some hay and chomped as he greeted his human friends at the Sanctuary.  Before he could finish those first few bites Mister turned to look toward the field again.  As Mister walked toward the gate at the back of his stall the other horses in the field looked up and took notice.  Once in the field Mister’s pals Leggs and Apollo came down to meet him.  Several other horses came too.  It was quite a scene with the horses prancing back and forth in the lower part of the field.  They stopped near the water trough to pose for a quick picture before they turned in unison and trotted up the hill to join the rest of the herd.  Once they arrived all the horses joined in the welcome home party.
