LIGHTING A CANDLE IN THE DARK

It’s Our First Birthday, and we’re inviting all our friends to join us on Saturday, May 4th, for a celebration of thanks to our generous donors and recognition of our partners, local businesses, public agencies, and individuals who help Equamore Foundation make our mission a reality for the horses who come into our care. In that vein, we’re dedicating this issue of the NeighSaver to them.

First, Thanks to Our Donorswho have contributed since last May toward the annual payment on the loan that allowed us to purchase Eden Farm as Equamore’s permanent home. We have less than a month remaining before that important annual loan payment is due, and we’re hoping that some of you reading this newsletter will open or re-open your wallets to raise the $6,500 needed To reach this milestone.

Thanks to our Equamore Friendswho use their PayPal accounts or credit cards to donate monthly through the “Buy a Bale” or “Horse Rescue Team” programs.  With a donation of as little as $12 or more per month, these Equamore Friends guarantee that our monthly expenses for hay, straw, special feeds, hoof and medical care are covered. These contributors are the backbone of the organization. Not only do they keep the horses fed, they keep the lights on, the water flowing, the manure spread, and the computers connected.

Thanks to Our Employees and Volunteerswho care for the horses, take referrals from animal control agencies, and process the many applications received by the Oregon Hay Bank from horse owners who need a helping hand to keep their horses at home.

Thanks to our Board of Trusteeswho insure the Foundation operates according to its policies so that we retain the 501(c)(3) non-profit status that allows our contributors to deduct their donations from state and federal income taxes. We are especially grateful to Al Ives and Mary Eaton who, after years of dedicated service, retired from the board. Mary’s been with Equamore from its beginning in 1991, Al since 2005.
