Equamore is a unique horse rescue: unique in our commitment to our horses; in  the exemplary horse care we model; and in the way we fight for those causes most worth fighting for.

WE’RE DIFFERENT BECAUSE we model the highest level of horse care. All Equamore horses live where they can see, touch, and play with other horses. They are fed a diet individually prescribed, given turnout, and provided shelters or individual stalls to protect them from wind, cold, and rain. Even difficult horses are handled by well-trained, highly qualified volunteers who know that a firm but gentle touch can teach volumes to a frightened and misunderstood horse.

WE’RE DIFFERENT BECAUSE we make a sacred commitment to Equamore horses that they will live at Equamore Sanctuary or in carefully monitored foster care under Equamore’s protection for the rest of their lives.

But mostly, WE’RE DIFFERENT BECAUSE we fight to make real the unspoken prayer of all rescued horses that they will never need rescue again.

Before you consider adopting me,
Realize that I am a forever horse.
I am not your until-you-get-bored
or until-you-lose-interest-in-me horse.
I am not your until-your-child-goes-off-to-college
or until-she-finds-boys-instead horse.
I am not your until-you-have-to-move horse. 
I am not your until-you-get-pregnant horse.
I am not your until-I get-lame horse.
I am not your until-I get-old horse.
I am not your until-you-get-a-new-horse horse.
If you cannot promise that I am
Your care-for-me-until-I-die horse,
Your care-for-me-even-after-you-die horse,
Please do not consider adopting me
Because I am a Forever Horse
