Some days are just hard to explain. During our wonderful horse show Saturday, a Frenchman traveling with his family through the Rogue Valley stopped by quite upset about a sheep he had seen in the area. He and his family had seen it days before, alone and seemingly abandoned. Saturday as they were returning to California, he saw it again, but it was down and still alone. The sheep drank the water he gave it apparently quite thirsty, with no water source in site. He had noticed our sign and drove to Equamore in the hopes we would know what to do. So, of course a carload of Equamore volunteers left the horse show and followed the man to the sheep. The sheep’s feet were massively overgrown; it was alone and down; and there was no apparent owner in the area. The volunteers determined that the sheep was abandoned and in serious need of care. The kind Frenchman lifted the sheep into the volunteer’s car and continued his journey, and the sheep rode to Equamore, apparently enjoying the ride.
A friend of Equamore volunteered to have the sheep’s feet trimmed. We will make sure she is healthy, and she will be on her way to a forever home.
Dieu merci!
