Rose was a POA (Pony of America.) It is an American pony breed where Appaloosa horses are crossed with ponies to get a small horse or pony with color.
She grew up in Montana and likely had a hard life in her early years. Rose was seven years of age when she became part of a new family. She was purchased especially for the family’s two children who were also seven years old. The children learned to ride and cared for horses like family. Rose and her brother became a vital part of their lives.
Many families sell or somehow dispose of their horses when their kids outgrow them or lose interest, but to this family – Rose was family.
Rose outlived her sibling. He died in 2022 at age 36 and Rose was moved next door to the Equamore Sanctuary to be with other horses and continue to receive the wonderful care she was accustomed to and that all horses deserve.
Rose was permanently retired, and her people committed to Rose’s lifetime care. They visited Rose regularly and were always pleased at how happy Rose was with all her newfound friends in turnout and her cozy stall in the main barn at night.
