Midnight arrived with the stallion Santana, his mother Zenchu, and three mares: Santasia, Eclipse, and Latte.
Nothing much is known of this herd’s past. They were seized by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department in a criminal neglect case on January 2, 2023.
When Midnight arrived at the Sanctuary, he was very much overweight with grossly overgrown feet, and his mane and tail were matted and tangled. He has a very kind and cooperative disposition, but was extremely nervous and leery of his new caregivers.
Midnight and Latte occupy a small field with a shelter next to the main barn and enjoy their turnout time with several other horses including all the herd mates they were rescued with.
