WILL YOU BE ONE IN A THOUSAND?
| Are you upset little friend? Have you been lying awake worrying? Well, don’t worry…I’m here. The flood waters will recede, the famine will end, the sun will shine tomorrow, and I will always be here to take care of you.” —Charley Brown to his friend Snoopy | ||||
The Equamore Foundation, like Charles Schulz’s ever faithful Charley Brown, makes a lifelong commitment to the animals that come into its care. We have been able to keep that commitment because of our many Equamore Friends, who have pledged as little as $12 per month toward the care of our 48 rescued horses. But to maintain our commitment, we need a thousand such pledges.

Dancer: Will you be my friend?”
This issue of the NeighSaver, dedicated to our new horses, is also a plea for continued or increased support of the Equamore “Horse Rescue Teams” and “Buy a Bale” programs, which were launched with the goal of one thousand pledges of at least $12 per month. The good news is that we’re 52% of the way to a monthly amount equal to the cost of keeping our horses, ponies, and minis at Equamore Sanctuary.
The bad news is that the need increases every year. In the first six months of 2013, for instance, five friendless horses have found refuge with the Foundation. One such horse is Dancer, at left. Her story is heartbreakingly familiar: she has lost the support of the people she served for most of her twenty years. The reasons don’t matter to this still beautiful thoroughbred mare. What does matter is that her future was uncertain when Equamore agreed to take her in.
And what matters further is that you can become one in a thousand, an Equamore Friend, by going to her page on our web site and joining her rescue team with a pledge of support for her care.
