PLEASE FENCE US IN
Aerial View of Equamore Sanctuary with new fencing.
Unlike Cole Porter, horses love being fenced in. If they had written his famous lyrics, the song would have been much different. Equamore Foundation’s mission is to make these rewritten words a reality for the horses who need our new Sanctuary fences in 2014. The new lyrics and our progress in fencing in our 53 rescued horses appear on Page 2.
FEATURED HORSES:
Thor is a magnificent horse with a huge heart, a giant baritone nicker, and a desire to please. But the fear instilled in him by people runs agonizingly deep. Thor’s story appears at the top of Page 3.
Bryant, our Buy-A-Bale poster horse, came to us starved and emaciated. He recovered because people were able to spare the price of a bale of hay per month toward his care. Bryant’s plea for continued help appears on the bottom of Page 3.
GOOD NEWS AND BAD NEWS
The publication of the “2009 Unwanted Horses Survey” by the Unwanted Horses Coalition energized Equamore to focus on the problems the survey revealed, one of which was the fact that 69% of existing rescue facilities, including Equamore’s, were near or at capacity given what was then current funding. The problems faced by unwanted horses and our simple solution appear on Page 4. |
