Nothing much is known of Eclipse’s past. She was seized by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department in a criminal neglect case with five other horses on January 2nd of 2023.
When she arrived at the Sanctuary she was very overweight, her mane and tail were tangled and matted, and her hoof care had been seriously neglected. She was quite nervous and seemed very depressed and aloof.
For the first nine months after her arrival, she occupied the field and shelters next to the main barn with the three mares and one gelding she was rescued with. In October she moved into the main barn where she has her very own stall and she loves it. There is a sparkle in her eye that wasn’t there before, and she seems very confident and pleased with this new arrangement.
