Departed Friends

These horses have lived out their lives after rescue under the care of the Equamore Foundation. Many lived with us for years; a few only for days. They are all missed. Click on each photo to see their pages.

Et tu, Chance?

Early last summer Magic and I left the mare field and joined the gelding herd.   Now that some new fall grass has sprung, we are back in the dry mare field.   I had left Chance in charge of the mares, offering him a chance to show his stuff and lead.   Did he take this opportunity to become a player?   Did he appreciate my advice as to managing Sara?   No!  Instead of learning to lead, he stole Bo’s heart!   He now…

Give It Up Sara

My little person visits me a lot.   She likes to come to the end of my run outside and scratch my ears, pet me and give me baby carrots and cookies.    I think she does this outside so that Sara can’t see.   Sara thinks she owns this little person – so obnoxious.   My stall is across from Sara’s and when this person is petting and feeding me in the barn Sara goes nuts!   Sara knows something is up…

Foot Fetish Update

The end of June marked the 6 month anniversary of our “foot fetish project.”   All of our laminitic horses in the project were X-rayed again to see what progress had been made or not since December of last year.  We got good and bad news.   The good news is that Thor and Bojingles both showed excellent progress, in large measure because of their trims, and for Thor his shoes.  Bo will continue to receive anti-inflammatory medicine.  The other horses in…
