Bryant is a beautiful Appendix Quarter Horse whose Rogue Valley neighbors noticed his neglect. After Jackson County Animal Control intervened, he was brought to the Equamore sanctuary in 2007. As you can see in this photo, he was terribly thin, and his hip bones were completely devoid of hair and full of scabs. This afternoon, Equamore Sanctuary hosted a Christmas at the Barn party with stable tours, stories about the horses, and hot chocolate, cider, and other goodies, creating a wonderful opportunity for the community to learn more about Equamore. It was a treat to be at Equamore last week for this very special event: the one-year anniversary of Sara and her “person,” Equamore board vice-president Ruth Kennedy. Being a “person” to Sara means walking, grooming, and visiting her — as well as proffering treats (Sara and Ruth share an apple at the end of nearly every day). After Sara was rescued from severe neglect by Equamore back in 2008, she was placed twice in adopted homes and twice returned. In February of 2010, the sanctuary became her…
