January 28, 2013 Bryant has made so much progress since he got his special shoes. Other than of course being more comfortable and energetic, Bryant is starting to interact with other horses. Hazel was first rescued from an elderly woman in Williams, Oregon, and brought to a new home in Grants Pass. Raffie arrived at the Equamore sanctuary in September of 2012 after Jackson County investigated a report of two neglected horses. A deputy called Equamore to take in both horses, but at the last minute, the owners refused to surrender the other, younger horse, allowing only Raffie to be taken to the sanctuary. Bryant is a beautiful Appendix Quarter Horse whose Rogue Valley neighbors noticed his neglect. After Jackson County Animal Control intervened, he was brought to the Equamore sanctuary in 2007. As you can see in this photo, he was terribly thin, and his hip bones were completely devoid of hair and full of scabs.
